Planning
We will measure the dimensions of the piano and the doorways, hallways, and staircases it needs to pass through. As piano moving specialists we will ensure the path from the piano’s current location to the moving vehicle is clear of obstacles and using our specialist piano moving equipment – piano dolly, moving straps, moving blankets, and ramps – our experienced team are on hand and know how to handle the weight of your piano and manoeuvre it safely, ensuring it does not get scratched or damaged.
Moving a piano
Depending on the type of piano you have will depend on the treatment we apply when moving it. We will obviously ensure that your piano is secure inside our removal van, to prevent movement during the piano transport, and drive carefully, avoiding sudden stops and sharp turns to minimise shifting inside the vehicle.
Upright Piano
Using a piano dolly, we will tilt the piano slightly, to slide the dolly underneath and secure it with moving straps. We will then carefully roll the piano, ensuring it stays balanced and lift it over any thresholds, rather than rolling over them, to avoid damage and tipping.
Grand Piano Movers
We will remove the legs and pedals and wrap these parts separately. We will then place the piano on a padded piano board and secure it with moving straps. Our highly experienced specialist piano movers will then lift the piano onto a piano dolly or directly onto a ramp for loading.
After moving, and once your piano is situated in its new location, it may need tuning due to the vibrations during the move and changes in its environment. We recommend that you allow the piano to acclimatise to its new surroundings for a few weeks before having it tuned.
